Peak Performance Round 3: Boot Camp with Marcello Pedalino and Friends at The Randolph YMCA

1277206_10202156891146179_793179080_oThe Celebrate Life Series continues with another installment of “Peak Performance.”

When your discerning clientele expects nothing less than stellar service and the best possible performance you can deliver throughout their entertainment experience; staying fit is not only helpful… it’s mandatory.

This time around, I was inspired by Staff Sergeant Gamba from The United States Marine Corps. He conducts an incredibly challenging Boot Camp class on Wednesdays mornings at 9:15 am and then on Saturdays at 9:00 am at the Randolph YMCA.

test 13Now, this ain’t your typical bootcamp-lite or hokey-themed aerobics class where they do a couple of extra push-ups and give it a cool name. Nope. This is a legit, Marine Boot Camp simulation training experience for civilians by the real deal. Staff Sergeant Gamba will challenge your mental and physical limits while simultaneously promoting the coveted core values of the Marines and ensuring your safety.

Try not to freak out or get too intimidated. You are allowed to stop and catch your breath when necessary or opt out of any exercise you are not comfortable with. There is no scrubbing toilets with your toothbrush for bad behavior like in the movies. 🙂 BUT… Don’t. Quit. Staff Sergeant Gamba doesn’t like quitters. Nobody does. (and you’ll be surprised who can’t handle class and who excels.)

test 8Having an ever-evolving, diversified wellness program and surrounding yourself with fabulous people to keep you motivated, accountable and on track- is the key if you want to continue waking up early in the mornings and maintain peak performance levels. It was great to have Mike Walter, Jordan Marshall, Terri Contaxis, Allison Freeman, Amanda Fisher, Christina Jones, and some of my super-cool dedicated friends from the Y join us for this exhilarating and inspirational afternoon session.

Special thanks to Bill Lamia, Kathy Lamia and Kathy Fisher from the YMCA for welcoming my colleagues once again to their impressive facility. We’re looking forward to our next session.

To Staff Sergeant Gamba and all the Marines past and present, thank you for your time, service to our country and EVERYTHING you do. Godspeed.

Health and Happiness,

How To Maintain Peak Performance: Round 2, with Marcello Pedalino and Friends at the Randolph YMCA

The Celebrate Life Series continues with another installment of “Peak Performance.”

When your discerning clientele expects nothing less than stellar service and the best possible performance you can deliver throughout their entertainment experience; staying fit is not only helpful… it’s mandatory.

In addition to a healthy diet and a strong focus on a lifestyle that promotes balance, happiness and fulfillment; a regular wellness routine is paramount for maintaining an optimum fitness level.

Once again, a few friends from the special events industry made the trip up to my “gym,” The Randolph YMCA, for a fun little workout. Bobby Carpenter from Main Event Weddings, Davide Fuoco and  Mike Walter from Elite Entertainment, Vincent Velasquez from Hurricane Productions and Dave Nase from New Jersey’s Best Dj’s joined me for a high-energy afternoon.

We did a few of my favorite core training circuits, boxing drills, tractor tire exercises, plyometric routines and even a little TRX courtesy of the Y’s phenomenal Group Fitness Coordinator, Kathy Lamia.   We also utilized the Y’s incredible aquatic center for some deep water verticals, endurance finning and their awesome underwater treadmills.
