A Red Carpet Premier at the Grand Summit Hotel

Red CarpetWe’ve been a preferred vendor at the Grand Summit Hotel,an elegantly refined NJ luxury Inn,” for several years.  Jim Thornton and Teresa Garcia, the sales and catering directors, have helped MMP Entertainment create once in a lifetime memories for some fantastic families in the Skyland and Gateway region of NJ.

Grand Summit BallroomOne family, in particular, is the Weinerman’s.  After doing Ryan’s Bar Mitzvah in 2007, they called us back for his cousin Rebecca’s celebration in 2009.  What makes the Weinerman family unique is that their grandfather, Marshall,  is the owner of the hotel. Mr. Weinerman, a successful businessman, devoted family fan and gentleman, liked what he saw the first time around and invited us back.  My team and I were honored.

Cover GirlRebecca’s Bat Mitzvah theme was a Red Carpet Premier.  It was perfect! Rebecca looks like a glamorous movie star to begin with so when she walked down the red carpet past the paparazzi in her gorgeous dress, you couldn’t help but think you were at an L.A hot spot with famous rock stars and actors sipping PerrierFrank Duca, and the crew from Hollywood East Video, made arrangements for all the guests to be interviewed as they entered and walked down the Red Carpet.   Later in the evening they showed a customized highlight film featuring Rebecca’s rise to stardom.  The multi-media experience was way above and beyond the typical photo montages that guests were used to.

Live SaxAs you’ll see from the event re-capture at the bottom, Rebecca and her family and friends had a blast.   Rebecca’s mom, Betsy, did an awesome job planning the entertainment for the celebration. After our initial consultation and follow-up design session, Betsy reserved our classy Jazz Trio for the adult cocktail hour, and our video dance party, Guitar Hero World Tour, Game Show, Photo Booth and 2 DDR Max stations for the kids’ cocktail hour.  We also provided a sax player, percussionist, vocalist and night club light show upgrade for the reception.

The Weinerman FamilyOne of the event highlights was seeing Rebecca and her Dad, Mark, dancing to the father-daughter dance. Mark, who has to be the biggest James Taylor fan I know, made a great choice by selecting “Sadie”, a song about a cherished relationship, for the special dance.   Both Rebecca and her dad sang the words together and shared a wonderful moment.  It’s really nice to see a genuine connection between a dad and his little girl.

marissa3Rebecca’s younger sister, Marissa,  will have her Bat Mitzvah in a few years… we can’t wait!  She also has the big screen good looks and an outgoing personality to match. Their older brother, Max, is going to have a tough time sharing the house with two future divas!

Special thanks to Mauricio Lemonk from the Wendy Robinson Photography company for sharing his photos for this entry.  Mauricio specializes in the high fashion shooting style that you would see in Vogue magazine.

If you want your photo album to be personalized and to stand out from the rest with an artistic flair, Mauricio is your man.

Special thanks to Frank for putting together this video clip for us.  Enjoy!

Marco’s Walk-off Communion in the Palazzo Ballroom at the Venetian

Sean "Big Daddy" MckeeThis year, the Yankees debuted their new stadium to the delight of fans everywhere.  This year, the Venetian debuted their new Palazzo Ballroom to the delight of life-celebrators  everywhere.  So imagine how happy you’d be if you were Marco Siracusa, you’re a huge Yankee fan and you’re having your Communion in the Palazzo!

I Just Wanna Bang On The Drum All DayIt was only a year ago that Marco’s brother Gerry had his Communion at the Venetian, an event that was called a “Grand Slam” by all that attended.  Their parents, Gerlando and Nellie Siracusa, had a tough act to follow.  How do you create another unforgettable experience at the same venue for your other son?

Photo MontageSimple.  First, you start with a budget that would impress George Steinbrenner... then, the Venetian has the grand opening of their jaw-dropping new ballroom just in time for your reception, you add in special guest performances by DJ of the Year 2007, Sean “Big Daddy” Mckee, and professional percussionist, Howie Bongo, you set up Dance Heads, Rock Band Extreme, the Interactive Game Show, Wii Sports and a Yankee- themed Pitch Speed Cage, you make arrangements for a huge candy cart to roll out after the flaming dessert presentation, and you call us back to produce the event again. Like a 6-4-3 double play with Jeter at short stop, the team effort made it look easy.

CandylandThe highlights included Marco, Gerry, Uncle Joe and the Godfather, Joey D. doing a percussive jam session on the drums, Marco & Gerry performing a family favorite, the Burger Dance, and the custom photo montage that Gerlando put together. Setting up the projection screen in addition to the plasmas and utilizing the dance platforms as chairs for the kids made for an enjoyable theater-like experience.

Dance HeadsMarco’ s family is a lot like mine and many others who we have the honor to celebrate with,  they could have a great time with an old boom-box in the living room. However, when you combine an awesome crowd, with a first-class venue and exceptional entertainment, it’s like getting the call to move up from a t-ball  league to the majors.

Special thanks to Jeff & Jason for their collaborative-interactive efforts and as always to Dave, Jimmy, Adriatik and Carlos from the Veneitian for their hospitality and professionalism.

How Sweet It Is! Rebecca Is the Queen of Candyland

FCCA few years ago, the Muller family celebrated Zachary’s Bar Mitzvah and transformed the Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club into an intergalactic  Star Wars movie set.  Celebrated author and editor at large of Esquire magazine, A.J Jacobs, wrote  about the impressive event in his New York Times best seller, The  Year of Living BiblicallyThe chapter was cleverly titled, Zach Wars, Episode XIII, Revenge of the Torah.

Rebececca and her friendsFor Rebecca, they collaborated again with Tracy Fox from Party Artistry for another eye-catching  decor transformation. This  time, it was a Candyland theme and a show of affection for the color purple!  The ballroom looked incredible.

During the cocktail hour, the adults were treated to an electric violinist, while the kids enjoyed our game show, glass blown jewelry, picture this, sumo wrestling, a virtual roller coaster, salt water taffy, a photo booth and a personalized montage that we displayed on a plasma screen for guests to enjoy as they walked by.

Happy GuestsAs you can tell from the photos, Rebecca, her friends and family loved to dance.  They were big fans of Swing dancing, Motown music, and the current hits.

Among many, a highlight of the day came during the candlelighting.  Unbeknown to Rebecca, her parents, Mark & Debra,  made arrangements for her dog “Mattie” to make a special guest appearance for candle #10. Rebecca and all of the guests cheered as we played Who Let the Dogs Out. It was an awesome moment!

Special thanks to Barbara and Kristine from Fiddlers for their hospitality and professionalism. It was also a pleasure working with Michelle, Party Artistry’s on-site coordinator for decor and logistics.

Joey’s ‘Nightclub’ Bat Mitzvah at the Diva Lounge- A Cinderella Story

diva-lounge7Joey had her Bat Mitzvah at The Diva Lounge in Montclair New Jersey.

Packed! DJ Marcello up in the booth. The nightclub atmosphere gave Joey’s celebration a real New York City chic and upscale vibe. It felt like a Saturday night at the hottest place in town, even though it was only two o’clock in the afternoon.

This was our second time working with the Rudorfer family, we did Samantha’s event three years ago at The Brooklake Country Club.

It’s always cool working in a club to change up the scenery a bit. For a DJ, patching our equipment into a huge state of the art sound system and light show makes you feel a little like a “diva for a day,” especially with signs like this around.

3-diva-lounge4One of the many highlights of the day was when Joey and her dad, Henry, did a choreographed dance to a beautiful song called Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman. I had come over a few weeks before to help them with a few steps. They were awesome.

The Diva Lounge has a really cool way to spice up dessert. They have “The Candy Man make a special guest appearance and throw out candy to all the kids. He was a big hit! We played “Buttercup” by The Foundations and had everyone singing along.

The CandymanAnother Kodak moment was watching Henry and his wife, Dara, enjoy the video montage of their daughter growing up. It brought them to tears. The club showed the montage on 8 different plasmas and a huge drop-down, projection screen so all of the 200 guests had a great view regardless of where they were in the club.

Sentimental, daddy loves his little girl. Like Samantha’s Bat Mitzvah, Joey’s simcha was filled with a lot of love, positive energy, dancing guests and heart-warming moments.

Special thanks to Lauren and Vinny from the Diva Lounge for their hospitality and professionalism.

Ariel and Zoe’s “Fabulous” Event at the Park Avenue Club

pac-facadeAriel and Zoe’s B’nai Mitzvah was held at The Park Avenue Club in Florham Park, NJ.

Their mom, Haya, wanted a “fabulous event”; in her Thank You phone call afterwards she said, “Marcello, you delivered.”

jazz-trioGame ShowGlass BlowerFrom the Jazz Trio, the Game Show, Picture This, Personalized Glass Blown Jewelry, Rock Band, DDR Max, Photo Dog Tags, Balloon Artist and mind-blowing Illusionist during the cocktail hour to the live musicians, intelligent light show and bubble machines during the reception, Ariel and Zoe experienced a day they will always remember fondly.

HoraWith 300 fun-loving, family members and friends together in one of the best venues NJ has to offer, the odds for a successful event were in our favor from the start.

When you combine those elements with ideal guests of honor and a solid entertainment company, a celebration goes from ordinary to extraordinary.

MMP Entertainment TalentThe highlights of the day included the girl’s Grand Entrance when they came in on the shoulders of our dancers to We Go Together from the Grease soundtrack, Haya’s heart-felt speech, and the finale choreographed routine to Grease Lighting.

I had 18 people on my talent and production team that day, this shot features a photo taken with dancers before the guests arrived.

Special thanks to Randy Polo, the Catering Director, for his hospitality and professionalism. He was instrumental in coordinating our pre-event site surveys and the on-site logistics.
